Hello all.

My grandmother gave me a diamond (maybe?) ring recently. It must have been hers at one point, and it wasn’t new from a store.

Inside the band it says “18 KT. H.G.E.” then a symbol that’s a V overlapping a figure shaped like this: <>

It’s silver looking, so I’m assuming it’s 18 karat white gold. But what do the other letters and symbol mean?

A friend of mine brought her Grandmother’s 15 diamond ring to a well know jewelry store to be reset for her upcoming wedding. The store called her and told her they cannot find the ring. What is she entitled to legally? Does she need to sue the store?
