For me it’s not how big & flashy it is, but I want something simple where the diamond is the main focus, clean cut, elegant & eye catching in a not so “Look at my pathetically large ring that’s bigger then my head.”

Clarity
Color
They want a big diamond first, then they care about the shape - round or pear cut etc they will have a preference.
Clarity - it has to be sparkly and then colour.
I picked a perfect diamond so I had to get a smaller one - of course my sister always paraded hers as being bigger.
I think if the woman cares what other people think and wants to impress people, she goes for size. If she is a smart shopper she should go by clarity and colour.
They think about looking at it for the rest of their life and are they always going to love the design and the look.
Are they going to enjoy looking at it everyday for the rest of their life?
Sometimes they also think about practical aspects regarding the shape such as does it protrude so far it is going to catch on things.

Getting something that fits “them.” Presumably they are going to wear this for the rest of their live every day, therefore having a ring that matches a lifestyle is important.
