REGISTERED, FEDEX. take photos of the ring and insurance on the package after all your sending diamond engagement ring that small and very easy to lose !

Don’t know what EMS is, but I’d recommend FEDEX. I know they’re reliable and their network covers the world, so it’s in their hands the whole way..

Are you proposing in Italy?
Otherwise why are you shipping it there?
If you’re proposing in Italy I don’t know why you would ship it ahead of time. In which case take it on the plane in your carry-on, which should be LOCKED while it goes through security. While you’re in Italy before you propose make sure it is hidden (maybe in the lining of your suitcase) and that you keep the case locked. The day of take similar precautions and don’t leave it in your back pocket or in an unsecured backpack.
Sorry if you’re shipping it for some other reason, then I don’t know the best method.
Just request a signature on delivery, and specify strict delivery rules. Most companies allow you to view the signature on the web after its delivered, so you can tell if the right person got it.
