Does every Diamond or Diamond ring have a GIA number given?

diamond ring

I have bought a very nice Diamond ring but was not told by the jeweler anything about a GIA number, my question is, does every diamond ring or diamond have a GIA number given or only when bought by specific jeweler, condition, or diamond type? please if someone knows please advise.

  1. Nope, only GIA certified diamonds have a number assigned to them by GIA. Which means the stone has been graded in a GIA lab, by one of their gemologists. Almost any jeweler can get their hands on certified stones; you don’t have to go to any one particular one
A cert doesn’t necessarily mean high quality.. but it does sure jack up the price…. if you are happy with the stone you got, don’t worry about the cert. But, DO get it appraised, for insurance purposes.
