   A promise ring can be given to a girl from her boyfriend, to show that they will stay together and be faithful to one another. An abstinence ring means that the girl will not have sex until she is married.

   and a promise ring is something you get with your loved one, to symbolize saving yourself for that person

   A promise ring is a ring given to you by your boyfriend that will show you promise to wait for him, and not date other boys. An abstinance ring is a ring you wear that shows you won’t have sex until marriage regaurdless of if you are male or female or with someone or not.

   A “promise ring” is a ring that is indicative of a serious promise made to oneself or another. In most cases, it’s given to a romantic partner to signify a commitment to a monogamous relationship, sometimes as a precursor to an engagement ring. Students sometimes use class rings as promise rings, although this may be less common than in the past. A friend may also bestow a promise ring to another friend to signify their loyalty and/or resolve to remain friends forever. In other cases, a promise ring may just be purchased for oneself as a reminder of a personal promise. Promise rings can be worn on any finger, but those symbolizing pre-engagement are generally worn on the left ring finger.

   Purity rings, or chastity rings (absitnence) originated in the United States in the 1990s among Christian affiliated sexual abstinence groups. The rings are sold to adolescents, or to parents so that the rings may be given to their adolescent children as gifts.

   It is intended that wearing a purity ring is accompanied by a religious vow to practice celibacy until marriage. The ring is usually worn on the left ring finger with the implication that the wearer will remain abstinent until it is replaced with a wedding ring. Although the ring is worn on the hand, where others can see, its main purpose is to serve as a constant reminder to the wearer of their commitment between themselves and God to remain pure until marriage.
