   An engagement ring is saying that you’re going to get married soon, and that you’re probably already starting to plan. A promise ring is for when you’re planning on getting engaged soon, but you want to wait a little longer before taking that step.

   I know an engagment ring is a symbol of your love, you give it to the one you love before you get married. An promise ring dosn’t have to be a symbol of your love, it can be just a promise to your love one, and it dosn’t matter what the promise is.

    A promise ring doesn’t necessarily mean that he intends to marry you, and engagement ring does. Promise rings to me are copouts for men who are too scared to make a committment but want to ACT like they are making one.

    I believe that a promise ring is more for younger people to give as a lot of promises get broken. An engagement ring is presented when you ask a woman if she will accept your hand in marriage.
