It is the step before an engagement ring. Basically it is any ring you deem appropriate. I had one and it was very simple. It is a symbol to the world that you have a man/woman and that you promise yourself to them…

A promise ring is kind of like an engagement ring to an engagement ring.
Promise rings are usually not super expensive, whereas engagement rings can be quite expensive. It usually means “I’ll get you something better someday.”

a promise ring is like a pre-engagement ring. when your engaged then ur most likely gonna get married but when you have a promise ring its jus like saying that you wanna be together forever but your just not ready for engagement and marriage

An engagement ring is a ring symbolizing that the two of you are committed to each other and will get married.
A promise ring is a ring symbolizing that the two of you are committed to each other and hence, not looking for relationships elsewhere.
A promise ring sometimes precedes an engagement ring.
It basically just tells everybody around you that you guys are into each other even though you haven’t decided to marry each other.

a promise ring means ….I’m 14 and i like you this week….an engagement ring means we are 2 grown mature people who love each other for life.( it does not always turn out that way but it is the meaning of it).
