In a nightclub, my friends diamond ring turned completely white under the black lights and?

nothing happened with the metal of the ring. We both have platinum settings, just the diamond was effected. It glowed like a ball of light.

Different metals between the rings perhaps? Gold vs. platinum?
Either that or one of them is fake. hehe.

It MAY mean that yours is fake, but I would check it out with a professional jeweler before I jumped to conclusions.
It may be that how it is cut or trace chemicals (like those that make some diamonds colored) affect the flourescence or refraction of light.

I’ll put a link below that I found. What I understand from what I read there, a real diamond can glow or not, depending on its level of flourescence. It doesn’t mean either is fake. Some people like diamonds with less, some with more. Don’t worry!

diamond is fluorescent, which is why your friend’s diamond turned white.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say yours is fake, since, like the other people said, diamonds can contain different mineral inclusions and impurities, and these may or may not be fluorescent.
so, if you’re worried about it, you might take it to a jeweler, as they would be able to tell if it was real or not.
