Can a chipped diamond ring be repaired?
blm944 asked:
The corner of my princess cut diamond ring is chipped. Can this be filled in by a substance that looks like a diamond or something like that? Thanks.

honestly a diamond can’t chip, are you POSITIVE that it’s a real diamond?

It’s best to take it to a qualified jeweller or gemologist for inspection and their professional opinion. I hope you’re able to have it repaired and restored. Good luck.

Unless you were punching another diamond, it wouldn’t have chipped, it’s probably not real.

diamonds dont chip…it could be not a diamond. if you are sure it’s a diamond, and it’s not the gold setting or anything that chipped, it cannot be fixed with another diamond chip, it’ll have to have fake stuff glued to it. Sorry. and you will have to take it to a jeweler who knows what he is doing, or it’ll look like a mess, so that could get pricey! good luck!

I am sorry but,
the other ladies are correct
diamonds can not be “chipped” usually except by another diamond or if it had a very large “inclusion” -fracture/flaw in the stone brings down the value and usually they will not cut ones that have a major break internally
if there is no major flaw/inclusion listed that could or would give your diamond a crack already there that the buyer was aware of; bring it back with all the papers and demand a replacement of value to what you were told it was bring other wtiness/professional lawyer/police if possible and if the value/cost warrants it
if you bought it and were told it is real;
bring the receipt/papers and certificate to a lawyer/police - if it is costly
if you given this as a gift and can get the certificate of authenticity
I am sorry that there is no quick fix..whether this is a genuine stone or not you will want only a gemist/jeweler of good reputation touching your ring
also if this is a real diamond ? anyting you do to it will bring the value down and will never look close enough to the “real” thing to make it “right” again…a jeweler however can fix another diamond into it
if this is a cubic zirconic you can bring it to a jeweler who can fix another cz into it….
that really is the only thing recommended
I hope it turns out well for you
good luck
thank you for taking time to read this

Contrary to popular belief that a diamond cannot be chipped or broken or its the hardest substance etc, diamonds can deifnately be chipped. Its the property to scratch other material ( infact all material) that gives it the title of hardest substance known to mankind.
It can deifnately be repaired. Chipped diamond can only be re-cut and re-polished again .But this will result in loss of size( weight) and obviously value too. Also many a times there is a risk of internal fracture being developed . So take your own decision on if its worth taking the risk of repairing.
