When ring shopping the 2 carat centerstones we looked at started at $15,000 and up . That was just the stone, not the setting and mounting , insurance etc.
The one I really liked was $17,500 and oval shaped.
We decided on a beautiful radiant cut that is just under 2.0 carats. By going just slightly less than 2 carats, the jeweler told us we could save a significant amount.
Anyhow, what you are describing is a very expensive ring. This is one of the higher priced ones, but just for reference:
