  1. most promise rings are smaller than the engagement ring. I know mine was.

  2. You can just say it’s a promise ring. They tend to be smaller and less elaborate than an engagement ring.

  3. If it’s a diamond ring, she will think it’s an engagement ring. I think for a promise ring you should get her a ring that has a different stone.

  4. They look however u want it to…they r typically smaller, but they dont have to be a certain type of ring….

  5. well if you tell her that its a promise ring i think she will be so shocked that she won’t care unleast its real big and then it will be good but go with you gut instinct

  6. A promise ring can look like whatever you’d like it to. It could be nothing like an engagement ring or look exactly like J-Lo’s ring. It doesn’t matter. It’s the thought that goes into it. Get her the ring if you love it. And just explain to her that it’s only a promise, don’t get on one knee or anything. If you eventually want to get married then she will be lucky enough to have 2 beautiful rings :)

  7. If you go onto the Zales website there are a whole bunch of Promise Rings, some don’t even look like engagement rings.

  8. It all just depends. If you want an idea go to Zales web page and take a look. A promise ring looks almost just like an engagement ring. It’s just smaller.

  9. my promise ring had 3 small stones in it, my engagement ring has one big stone. you can make that ring a promise ring if u want, and just get a more elaborate engagement ring when the time comes, good luck and congrats!

  10. The ring is whatever you tell her it is. I have a beautiful promise ring that I think would work quite well as an engagement ring but he told me it was a promise ring.
If it’s a HUGE diamond or something then you’ll be giving the wrong message…not to mention spending way too much money on something as simple as a promise ring.

  11. A promise ring does look the same as an engagement ring, it’s just smaller. My promise ring is only a 1/4 carat.

  12. Ring should not matter but intention matters.

  13. my prominse ring is white gold and has two small hearts with our birthstones in it {witch are real} and our names are on the band.

  14. A promise ring can be whatever you want it to be. My now-fiance’ gave me a ring he knew I wanted. It wasn’t very expensive, was a one-of-a-kind antique-style crystal and marquiste ring. I wear it on my right hand and my diamond solitaire engagment ring on my left.

  15. Promise rings tend to have small diamonds on them…..so if it’s an engagement ring with a really small diamond, I think it would be ok for a promise ring.

  16. A promise ring is a mini engagement ring. They have them in lots of jewelry stores. Just ask for help, and the people who work there will let you know which rings are which.

  17. Since promise rings are for teenagers and engagement rings are for adults, they are very different. A promise ring is much smaller and less expensive than an engagement ring. If you’re willing to spend the money that an engagement ring costs, then you sound too old for a promise ring (anything older than 17, in my opinion). If you’re an adult, wait to get her an engagement ring when you are ready to make that committment, and skip the silly promise ring.

  18. A promise ring can be anything you want. I know a kid who has one and if you didn’t know he was still in high school, it looks like a wedding ring. However a promise ring and an engagement ring are two completely different concepts.

  19. A promise ring is whatever ring you want to give her. It would be worn on the right hand to clear any confusion. And tell her what it is before you give it to her so she doesnt think you are asking!
You can always inscribe it with a “promise” message also!

  20. It can, generally, but is usually smaller and less expensive.
If you are highschoolers, a promise ring is for you.
However, if you are mature adults who have dated several years, it’s time for an engagement.

  21. Promise rings are just smaller, usually no more than $100-200. Personally, I think promise rings are lame unless you’re about 16, so I’d suggest you just wait until you’re ready to propose with a real ring. Otherwise it’s basically telling her “Well, I might like you enough to marry you someday but I’m not sure yet or ready to commit so I’ll just get you this ring so you have something to wear on that finger and maybe you’ll shut up about marriage for a while.” Sorry if that’s blunt, but that’s what most women think of them. Promises are empty unless they come with a commitment.
